Upgrade & Backup WordPress
This service includes a full backup of your WordPress files and database. We will then upgrade WordPress software to latest version as well as all plugins and themes.

WordPress is one of the most popular content management systems in the world. Part of the reason is that it’s constantly getting better, with new versions released approximately twice per year.

The latest version of WordPress  contains all kinds of goodies including a new media manager to manage photos, a default theme optimized for mobile devices and it’s ready to handle high definition retina displays out of the box.

Aside from all of the flashy new features it’s important to update your WordPress installation because updates often contain security patches for known vulnerabilities – helping you to reduce the risks that your site gets compromised by malicious hackers. Because WordPress is so popular it’s also a target for a lot of hackers so it’s important to keep one step ahead.

Things to consider when updating to the latest version of WordPress:

  • Back up your theme files, plugins, users database
  • Ensure you have a full backup of all content and media (photos etc)
  • Update and verify that the update has taken place
  • Update any out of date plugins

Note: sometimes when an update happens there will be issues. These issues can range from design tweaks not transferring across (if they were not done on a child theme) to conflicts with the latest version and older plugins.

In the cases where issues are determined we will need to create additional tweaks to fix these issues. However we can roll back to the previous version if need be to avoid additional costs. It is generally uncommon for issues to arise and often the fixes are fairly straightforward (like deactivating plugins or using older versions of plugins).

What can I expect?

  • Back up your theme files, plugins, users database
  • Ensure you have a full backup of all content and media (photos etc)
  • Update and verify that the update has taken place
  • Update any out of date plugins
  • Produce an issues report for further action
  • Roll-back if any issues
